Well, this was quite an eye-opener. I had thought to do my workouts on days when there weren't many people there, just because I'm totally self-conscious about doing this, but when I got there for my appointment (this first time they go through the circuit with you, take measurements and such), it was PACKED.
I eventually worked up enough nerve to look around, and there were several folks there I know -- bookstore customers, church people, a friend of my Mama's -- and before you know it, every woman in the place was talkin' football! I've read lots of folks' opinions about Curves, and some of the things I'd read mentioned the conversations that go on and how that's a distraction, but I loved the distraction!!
So I'm already rethinking the whole thing about doing this when fewer people are there.
Least favorite machines: DIP SHRUG, which works the deltoid, trapezius and lattisimus dorsi muscles; and the OBLIQUE, mainly because it works the obliques. I am going to conquer them, and fully expect them to become my favorites.
Most favorite machine: LEG PRESS. Totally makes ya feel all nice and stretchy.
Basically, my legs are in pretty good shape -- I do an awful lot of heavy lifting at the store some days, and use them for that (and it just naturally makes ya do lots of squats) -- but my upper body? Yowza. Weaker 'n a poot in a whirlwind.
I'm gonna fix that.
And I broke a sweat, and I got my heart rate up into a GREAT place, and it only took 30 minutes, and I felt awesome afterwards, and WHY didn't I do this a year ago????
