Vicksburg Karen came rollin' in on Friday afternoon, and we had a nice supper. Saturday morning she and I headed out to shop for a couple of things, and I wound up with TWO MORE HATS and a killer pair of red patent leather high heels. I mean, these babies have 3 1/2' heels on 'em, for goodness sake!
Garnet jetted in from Lamoni, Iowa, home of the two finest bottle calves on the planet, late that afternoon, and Melissa drove in from Auburn to meet us all at La Zona Rosa for another thrilling evening for Alex, the best waiter in Montgomery.
Sunday morning Garnet and Karen attended church with me, followed by a nice lunch at Sinclairs, where we finally shared our Chocolate Sinclair. Mainly, Henry ate it. He's very handy to have around. We were all lookin' so splendid we had to take another picture.
We spent some time gallivantin' around downtown Montgomery after this, until Karen got tired of us and Melissa had to leave.... Montgomery has been forever marked by RML...
But the COOLEST thing was this: Wednesday morning Garnet and I planned to have breakfast together at the hotel before I was to take her to the airport. She called about 8:30 and told me to HURRY UP, because she had met one of B.B. King's band members who'd told her they'd be pullin' out around 9:00... I raced downtown, and we spent many anxious lobby minutes acting like we had no clue anything exciting was about to happen.... and then.... out of the elevator comes Mr. King (in a wheelchair) and we just about fainted. He signed a poster for the hotel, and then Garnet charged right up and asked if he'd mind if we had our picture made with him... He was incredibly gracious, introduced us to his very handsome grandson, and then...
IT WAS AMAZING!!!!
