Getting Whittled

Pretty Kitty

So, today was Curves day. I've been sorta off the Curves wagon for a month because I've so enjoyed my long walks I just quit making time for it.

But I went back Monday, and I won't slack off again because I really do enjoy it. The fellowship is great -- walking clears my mind, but you don't hear local gossip much on a solitary pursuit! And of course, I have a membership through September '09, and I'm too cheap to let that money go to waste for long.

After Curves I went to the 'rent's house to do my weekly Linens Changing gig, and saw the pitiful critter pictured above. That's my parent's spoiled rotten Pretty Kitten, who is normally so fluffy she looks like motorized cotton candy that's come unwound, and therein lay the problem. She'd gotten so matted she was miserable, so she got shaved today. All I have to say is that there ain't much cat under that cat!

But I got my measurements taken at Curves today, and that's what I'm here to crow about!

Since September 10, 2008 I have lost 12.5 inches off this body:

2 inches off my bust.... 2.5 inches off my waist... 4 inches off my abdomen (woot!)... 1 inch off my thighs... .75 inches off my upper arms (batwings should just be damned)... and here's where the real drumroll needs to start ....

I've lost 5.2% body fat!!!! I've gone from the upper end of healthy to slap dab in the middle of the healthy range! My personal goal was to get to 30% body fat, and I am at 29.5!!

But I've lost something else since then, too. I've lost the idea that past a certain point in a woman's life there is very little she can do to improve her fitness or have a better body than she had when she was 35. There's more gravity involved than I'd like, of course, but if I met my 35 year old self in a dark alley I could kick her ass.

There is more than a little wave of empowerment going on here, people. It's a weird feeling for me to be this proud of myself, but I'm goin' with it.

I am proud of you, too. You look great! Now, if I could just get on that band wagon behind you....
