I'm heading out to Nashville in about an hour to spend the weekend with friends Sandy (from Michigan) and Marci (from Kentucky)! I've met Marci once before, but this'll be my first "live and in person" meeting with Sandy.
She and I have "known" each other online since back in the WW political thread days, so we're talking about 5 years of relationship preceeding an actual meeting. I'm so excited!!
The coolest thing is that one of Henry's employees let me borrow his very fancy Tom Tom, and after trial-running it yesterday I'm a whole lot less anxious about making this solo trip. I even have the address of the house my mother lived in when she was a little girl, after she and her parents left Bowling Green, Kentucky, where she was born. I'm really hoping it is picture-worthy -- I'd love to be able to help her walk down memory lane when I get home!

yay for Tom Tom! its what jackie got herself and its been great.
just be a bit... careful. we've discovered a few quirks in the mapping system, and they're not necessarily Tom Tom's fault.
1) our address, as pinpointed by Tom Tom, is not our address. but you get the same problem with Google Maps, too. apparently our teensy little neck of the woods has had lots of weird street renamings recently.
2) Patton Creek, where jackie's studio is at, does not exist according to Tom Tom. no streets, no nothing, and its been there almost five years now. while Google does have the street names and addresses available, their satellite view shows nothing but a large forest where the Center should be.
then again, B'ham isn't a majorMAJOR metro area like Nashville is. take that for what its worth.
I wish I were there~ Can't wait to hear all about it.
